The Material Support Warehouse plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of university activities. From handling surplus property to freight logistics and campus storage, it’s a bustling hub of activity. And now, there’s a new addition that makes accessing these services easier than ever—the Warehouse Services and Surplus Customer Service Desk.
The New Customer Service Desk
Located inside the main warehouse, just past the single gray door, this dedicated service desk is staffed with knowledgeable professionals ready to assist with a variety of needs, including:
- Surplus Services: Whether you need guidance on surplus property training, help with requests and manifests, advice on special projects or details on online auctions and sales dates, the team has you covered.
- E-Recycling: Learn about how the university handles electronic waste and why responsible recycling is so important.
- Repurposed Electronics and Computers: Explore a selection of ready-to-use laptops, desktops and computer accessories from trusted brands like Apple, Dell, Lenovo and HP.
- Freight Services: Get support with inbound and outbound shipments for Central Campus.
- Storage Solutions: Secure storage is available with affordable monthly rates, offering space options tailored to meet various needs.
A Sustainable Transformation
What makes this customer service desk truly special? Its construction is a shining example of sustainable ingenuity. What once was just a stack of pallets has been transformed into a beautiful and functional workspace.
By repurposing pallet slats, the project reduced approximately 2,500 pounds of waste that would have otherwise been sent to a landfill. Each slat was carefully planned to a specific thickness and assembled using precise joinery techniques to create a durable and aesthetically pleasing structure.
The craftsman behind this remarkable transformation is Josh Arnold, the Material Support Warehouse Facilities Maintenance Technician. A talented and detail-oriented professional, Josh’s work reflects his commitment to quality and sustainability.
